Istanbul is cultural melting pot as it only city which straddles two continent; Europe and Asia. As being  Turkey's financial and historic and cultural centre, it is globally renowned for its deep history as the capital of the Roman and Ottoman Empires, world-class cuisine, and bustling bazaars. It has a long history being the principle city  and the main administrative city of  the Ottoman Empire

Istanbul is a city that mixes old and new, and the best way to explore it is through its mahallesi (neighbourhoods). Get your history fix in Beyoğlu—it’s full of 19th-century European elegance—and  head to SultanAhmet  for the many holy sites  and being the historic heart of the city, housing the iconic Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace.

Grand Bazaar & Spice Bazaar: Historic, labyrinthine/maze like markets perfect for picking up spices, ceramics, rugs, and traditional Turkish sweets and desserts such as the world famous Turkish delights.

Bosphorus Strait: The scenic waterway dividing the two continents. Taking a public ferry or a private sunset cruise offers unparalleled views of waterfront Ottoman mansions and palaces. 

Galata Tower & Beyoğlu: Cross the Galata Bridge to the "New Town" to explore trendy boutiques, rooftop bars, and enjoy the panoramic views from the historic and medieval Galata Tower.

Getting Around Istanbul

Public Transit and Transportation: The city has an extensive and affordable network. Use the Istanbulkart to seamlessly tap into the Metro, nostalgic trams, funiculars, and the vital intercontinental ferries.

Walkability: Historic areas like SultanAhmet and Karaköy are best explored on foot, though comfortable shoes are a must due to cobblestone streets and steep hills.

Best Time to Visit: Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) offer the mildest temperatures, fewer crowds, and special events like the Istanbul Tulip Festival.

CurrencyEnsure you carry Turkish Lira (TRY) for smaller shops and local eateries, although credit cards are widely accepted in major hotels and restaurants.

Etiquette: When visiting any of the city's spectacular mosques, dress modestly. Women must cover their heads, and all visitors should have their shoulders and knees covered.
